Whiskey Slushie

A whiskey slushie is a frozen cocktail made by blending bourbon, fruit juice, and sugar with ice until smooth and icy. The resulting dessert-like drink has a thick, slushy texture with a vibrant, frosty appearance and a balanced mix of sweetness and boozy warmth. It’s served chilled, often topped with fresh fruit or a sprig of mint for garnish.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups bourbon or your preferred whiskey
  • 2 cups fruit juice (e.g., orange or cranberry) choose your favorite for flavor
  • ½ cup simple syrup or sugar syrup, adjust sweetness to taste
  • 3 cups ice cubes crushed ice works best

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Measure out the bourbon, fruit juice, and simple syrup, then add them to the blender.
  2. Add the ice cubes to the blender on top of the liquid ingredients.
  3. Secure the lid on the blender and pulse a few times to start breaking up the ice.
  4. Blend on high for about 30-60 seconds until the mixture is smooth, thick, and frosty with a slushy consistency.
  5. Check the texture—if it's too thick, add a splash of juice and blend briefly to loosen; if too thin, add more ice and pulse again.
  6. Pour the whiskey slushie into glasses, optionally garnished with fresh fruit or a sprig of mint.

Notes

Serve immediately for the best icy texture. You can freeze leftovers briefly to keep the consistency firm before serving.
