Ingredients

  • 8 slices Turkey slices preferably thin and slightly smoky
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese sharp melts well
  • 4 tablespoons Cream cheese softened for easy spreading
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh herbs chopped parsley or basil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard optional, for depth
  • Optional Extras like pickles or bell peppers for added texture and flavor
  • 4 large Flour tortillas or large lettuce leaves for gluten-free

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Non-stick skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Spread a generous layer of cream cheese evenly over each turkey slice using a butter knife or spatula. The spread should cover about two-thirds of the surface for easy rolling.
    4 tablespoons Cream cheese
  2. Place a slice of cheddar cheese at one end of each turkey slice, aligning it with the edge to make rolling easier. Add chopped herbs or any extras like pickles on top of the cheese if you like a bit of crunch or extra flavor.
4 slices Cheddar cheese, 1 tablespoon Fresh herbs, Optional Extras like pickles or bell peppers
  3. Starting from the end with the fillings, carefully roll up each turkey slice into a tight cylinder, pressing gently to keep everything snug and secure.
  4. If desired, cut each roll in half diagonally to create attractive bite-sized pieces that are easier to eat and share.
  5. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat until you hear a gentle sizzle when you sprinkle a tiny drop of water. Place the roll-ups seam-side down in the pan, cooking for about 2-3 minutes per side until they develop a golden brown crust and the cheese inside begins to melt.
  6. Carefully flip each roll-up using a spatula, pressing down slightly to ensure even contact and browning. Continue cooking until both sides are crispy and the cheese inside is gooey, about another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Once browned and bubbling, transfer the roll-ups to a plate and let them rest for about a minute. This helps the melted cheese set slightly for neater slices and easier handling.
  8. Serve immediately while warm and crispy, or let them cool slightly for portable snacks. Enjoy these nostalgic, cheesy bites with your favorite sides or on their own.
