Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white rum preferably a light or aged variety
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice preferably freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 cup vanilla extract
  • 2 cups ice cubes adjust for desired consistency

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Add the ice cubes to the blender and pulse a few times to break them into smaller chunks.
  2. Pour in the white rum and fresh orange juice into the blender with the ice.
  3. Add the vanilla extract to the blender for a hint of warmth and depth.
  4. Blend all the ingredients on high until the mixture is smooth, thick, and slushy—this takes about 30-60 seconds.
  5. Check the consistency; if it’s too thick, add a splash more orange juice and blend briefly to loosen it up.
  6. Pour the icy mixture into chilled glasses, revealing its frosty, inviting appearance with peaks of icy slush.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw or small cocktail umbrella for a fun, tropical touch.

Notes

For a sweeter slushie, add a splash of simple syrup or a dash of honey before blending. To intensify the citrus flavor, include a splash of lemon juice.
