Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice preferably freshly squeezed
  • 2 cups ice cubes adjust amount for desired consistency
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup or honey for sweetness, optional more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger juice or grated ginger optional, for a zing
  • sparkling water to taste optional splash for a fizzy twist

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the blender, ensuring it’s fresh for the brightest flavor.
  2. Add the simple syrup or honey to the blender, measuring carefully for the right balance of sweetness.
  3. Toss in the ice cubes, filling the blender until it reaches just below the top. This creates the icy base for your slushie.
  4. If you’re using ginger for a zing, add the grated ginger or a splash of ginger juice now to give the drink a spicy kick.
  5. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high for about 30-45 seconds until the mixture is slushy, thick, and smooth, with tiny ice crystals visible.
  6. Pour the frozen lemonade into tall glasses. If you like a sparkling twist, add a splash of sparkling water for fizz.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw or a garnish of lemon slice for a refreshing, icy treat.
